Liverpool Turns Back the Clock with Vintage Bus Day

Those in Liverpool this weekend may have noticed a rather unusual sight, as residents and tourists were given a rare and unique opportunity to explore the city aboard a vintage double decker bus – some of which dated back to the 1950’s.

Over 15 vintage buses were touring around the city on Sunday 13 September on the annual Classic Bus Running Day, departing from the Pier Head and Liverpool South Parkway to take in the surrounding areas and places of interest such as the famous Speke Hall.

The event was held in conjunction with Heritage Open Days, which also organised a weekend of tours, events and activities to bring local history and culture to life in Liverpool. The iconic vehicles, which are looked after by the Merseyside Transport Trust, were free for the public to board to give everyone the opportunity to sample a piece of transport history.

Relying on donations alone, all proceeds raised from the day went to the upkeep of the vehicles. This is the tenth year in a row that the Liverpool Classic Bus Running Day has taken place.
