The celebrity football match, held every two years, is all in aid of UNICEF, the world’s leading children’s organisation.

The 2012 match will see the brains behind Soccer Aid, and UNICEF Ambassador Robbie Williams, lead England out against a Rest of the World team captained by actor Michael Sheen on Sunday 27th May at Manchester’s legendary Old Trafford stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ITV1 and hosted by Dermot O’Leary.

Transport Media were appointed by Initial (an Endemol company) to handle the short term, high impact Outdoor Advertising campaign in Manchester.

Transport Media recommended taxi advertising as it delivers cover build rapidly, achieving both high coverage and frequency. From Monday locals will be welcomed by vibrant taxi’s dominating the city and suburban streets, which are transporting the Soccer Aid message across Manchester and into the minds of the consumer

Outdoor Consultant Maxine Campbell at Transport Media worked on the campaign in order to target business commuters, leisure and shopping audiences in Manchester whilst simply engaging in their day-to-day activities.

“I am extremely happy to work with Initial on a campaign for such an important charity event. Outdoor Advertising is a great tool for getting a message across to a large audience, and therefore increasing ticket sales for Soccer Aid and raising more money for UNICEF to change the lives of children across the world.”

The advertising featured on the taxis was created by design agency Hello Charlie.

Two squads of footballing legends and high-profile celebrities from England and the Rest of the World will be competing in the electrifying football match. Names confirmed to take part are Take That’s Mark Owen, world-famous chef Gordon Ramsay, comedians John Bishop and Paddy McGuiness, and Hollywood stars Will Ferrell and Gerard Butler alongside footballing heroes Teddy Sheringham and Edwin van der Sar.

Money raised from Soccer Aid, including all profits from ticket sales, goes towards UNICEF’s work with children living incredibly tough lives around the world.
